In the context of »Visual Journalism«, a class together with Ulysses Voelker and Robert Paulmann at University of Applied Sciences Mainz, a database emerged. Michael Schmitz and I created a book to freeze and manifest the state of the database by the end of the class.
»16 students communicated through a database: they sent reports on events or found information to each other by hazard and asked design-relevant questions. A network of associative texts arose. The book represents and shows this kind of communication.
At first you read it linear: all texts have been put in the chronological order of the database. But you can also jump between the pages and topics: when you follow the links, they show you the reactions to the text you are currently reading and the initial text as an impulse for the new text.«
